Performance and resilience enhancements to Passenger Cloud allow for demand surges in bike share schemes and help simplify integration.
Active travel is a key component in offering a viable alternative to car use in towns and cities. Passenger continues to support public transport and micromobility providers to show active travel options alongside live bus data.
Recent technology improvements to Passenger’s bike share service infrastructure have resulted in more reliable and scalable support for micromobility schemes and open source General Bikeshare Feed Specification, or GBFS.
Superpedestrian in Nottingham
We worked alongside our partners, Nottingham City Transport, to show the locations of the Superpedestrian e-scooters in the city.
Riders can use the NCTX Buses app and website to explore real-time scooter locations using the map to plan their journey and find scooters. When using the NCTX app, results include direct links to hire a scooter through the Superpedestrian app.
Beryl e-Bikes in Bournemouth
Beryl launched a deployment of e-bikes as a trial in the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole area. Our existing integration with Beryl was flexible to automatically make these changes active in the morebus app.
A subtle usability enhancement was included as part of the rollout, showing an electrical icon adjacent to the bike share pin. This indicates an e-bike or e-scooter is available at that location. Clicking on the pin displays live information about the number of bikes, e-bikes and e-scooters on the ground and the availability of spaces in the bay for dropping off.
Scalable, seamless bike share integration
The continued investment in our technology means that we can support increasing numbers of micromobility schemes and enhance the real-time information we display in our customers’ apps and websites, for riders.
Our goal is to give public transport users the most accurate data available, simplify their journey, and make shared transport the first choice.
