31st May 2019
The Passenger team announced that the first Passenger-deployed Alexa skill has been released, for Nottingham City Transport. The ‘skill’ is designed to enhance bus user experience in Nottingham for anyone with an Alexa device.
Nottingham City Transport and the Passenger team have a history of working collaboratively, sharing insights and endorsing equality for all when it comes to passenger technology. Alexa Voice Assistant by Passenger is no exception.
By using Alexa, users can plan journeys and find the latest bus times on a particular route.
This is the latest development NCT have made to provide their customers with technology services to assist in making the entire travel experience a happy one.
Anthony Carver-Smith, Marketing Manager at Nottingham City Transport says
“We love having choices for our customers to engage with as part of their journey experience. Adding Alexa Voice Assistant to our suite of Passenger products means we have another option for those who find speech and auditory response an easier way to check services and plan their journey”
Nottingham City Transport view accessibility as a priority. NCT and the Passenger team both recognise that releasing this product will allow users who may struggle with dexterity and mobility from a vast number of ailments and disabilities.
Dave Hulbert, Engineering Director of Passenger said
“We’re always looking for ways to help operators get the most value from the data they are producing. Technology and how we use it is ever-changing and evolving, so a Passenger Alexa skill for travel updates and information was the obvious next addition to the Passenger product suite. We’re pleased to work with operators such as NCT who are always looking for ways to expand services by opening up their network data to their customers in new ways.”
This is the new addition to a collection of Passenger products deployed for NCT.
Alexa device users are able to make commands such as “Alexa, ask NCT Buses for bus times from George Street” and “Alexa, ask NCT Buses how do I get to Nottingham Station”.
The NCT Alexa skill is available to enable on all Amazon devices.
